Getting Started with Google Apps

On the 1st of February 2012, I entered into a different type of classroom, I entered into a digital classroom. The difference is that in Room 16 at Dannevirke South School we have access to 21st century technology such as a netbook each. We do most of our work on the netbooks and this envoles using web 2.0 tools such as Blogger, Glogster, Wordle, Befunky, Cartoonize and more. A lot of the work we do one the netbooks is around google apps. Our class site is on google apps and is very easy to access.We can also get on the site at home as well as school. One of the reason we may need to get on the class site at home is we can find out stuff such as swimming dates and homework assignments on it.

Our classroom is more mobile than a normal classroom because if it is hot we can take the netbooks outside. One of the reason for having a digital class is to become more 21st century learners as well as being self directed. As a class this has been a learning curve that is very exciting.

Why do we have netbooks?

We have netbooks so we are ready and able to get a job in a technologically advanced enviroment such as many future jobs in the 21st century are. For some people using a netbook and having access to this type of learning can raise their academic achievement.When you have a netbook you can work in anyplace at anytime and be the complete creator of your work.

What happened on day 1?

When the bell rang we walked into the class and sat down at a desk and talked about the opportunity's of being in this special sort of class, then at 9:15 we went to assembly.When we got back to class there were brand new sparkling netbooks ready and waiting in the backroom and in the PCLOCS machine. We got them out and got into peers and loged them on. We then downloaded google chrome. We also got introduced to Symbaloo that day.

What do I/think feel about having my netbook?

I feel very delighted and overwhelmed that I have had the opportunity to experience this different type of learning enviroment. Being in a digit type of classroom and having a netbook mean their are endless possibilities for us.Overall I am very excited about being in room 16.
